The Hunan Benevolent Association of America, Inc. (HBAA) is the English name of the organization whose Chinese nameis literally translated as “US-Based Association of Hunan.” HBAA wasestablished in 1983 and is currently headquartered in New York City.
Theassociation is a non-profit organization whose purposes are as follows:
1.To promote Chinese culture with a focus on Hunan culture.
2.To adhere to a one-China principle opposing the division of Chinesenational territory.
3.To facilitate members’ friendships with others whose hometown isin Hunan; to promote members’ common interests and cooperation between members;to assist in development projects that serve Hunan.
4.To encourage mutual exchange and cooperation between theAssociation and Hunan.
5.To strengthen the relationship between the Association and otherAssociations in the community.
6.To motivate exchange with mainstream society; to increasecooperation with other multicultural organizations; to promote friendships withother Asian Americans.
