Pakistan Air Force Base Minhas (PAF Minhas Air Base) is a military airfield located in Tampir, Punjab, Pakistan, and is one of the main bases of the Pakistan Air Force. The airfield was named after Pakistan Air Force Lieutenant Lance Najib Khan Minhas, who became a national hero for his sacrifice during the Indo-Pakistani War.
Established in the 1950s, Minhas Airbase has been one of the main bases of the Pakistan Air Force due to its geographical importance and strategic significance, and has been tasked with a number of air defense, operational, tactical and training missions. The airfield has multiple runways and landing areas that can accommodate various types of military aircraft, including F-16s, JF-17s, C-130 transport aircraft and helicopters. In addition, the airfield has modern facilities and equipment, including a missile defense system, radar system, weapons depot and communications center.
In addition to its military mission, Minhas AFB is open for civilian aviation use. The airfield has a small terminal building that provides basic travel facilities such as waiting areas, gates, car rental counters, and parking. Because of its primary use for military missions, the airport is relatively lightly served by civilian flights, with only a handful of flights to a few cities within Pakistan.
