Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport is located at Liuting International Airport Road, Chengyang District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province, China. It is one of the important civil aviation airports in China and the only international aviation hub airport in Shandong Province. With two runways and three terminals, the airport can handle the take-off, landing and parking of large passenger and cargo planes. The airport's route network covers all major cities in China as well as international routes directly to Asia, Europe and North America, making it one of the important transportation hubs in northern China.
The first phase of Jiaodong International Airport, with an investment of 36.039 billion yuan, started construction on November 26, 2015 and will be officially put into operation on August 12, 2021. The airport has a 4F flight area and is capable of handling large passenger aircraft, including Airbus A380, with a terminal area of 478,000 square meters, two independently operated parallel runways, a runway length of 3,600 meters and a total of 178 aircraft slots. It can meet the demand of annual passenger throughput of 35 million passengers, cargo and mail throughput of 500,000 tons and 300,000 aircraft landings and takeoffs.
