Wuhu Air Base (WHU), located in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, China, is an important military base of the People's Liberation Army Air Force and one of the first class bases of the Chinese Air Force.
Established in the early 1950s, the base was once one of the main bases for the Chinese Air Force's aviation units and air defense units. The base now houses several Air Force units, including fighter jets, early warning aircraft, transport aircraft, helicopters, etc., and undertakes a number of Air Force training, operational readiness and scientific research missions.
Due to the importance and secrecy of the base, the outside world knows less about its specific situation. The base is not open to the public and generally does not accept civilian flights or general personnel.
