Located in Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Wuhai Airport is a medium-sized civil airport and the only civil airport in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Built in 1958, Wuhai Airport is one of the earliest civil airports built in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is located in the center of Wuhai City, about 8 kilometers from Wuhai City, 10 kilometers from Wuhai Railway Station and 20 kilometers from Wuhai Port.
Wuhai Airport has a 2.5 km long runway, which can withstand the take-off and landing of B737 series airliners. The airport has a terminal building, which can accommodate 400 people waiting for flights at the same time. The airport can handle 200 flights per day and 500,000 passengers per year. At present, Wuhai Airport has opened domestic and international routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Kunming, Xi`an, Chongqing, Shenyang, Harbin, Changchun, Hohhot, Ulanhot, Yinchuan, Lanzhou, Xining, Jinan, Qingdao, Dalian, Weihai, Yantai, Weifang, Jining, Linyi, Luoyang, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Taipei, Hong Kong and Macau.
