The Chinese Professionals Association of Canada (CPAC) is a federally registered, not-for-profit organization founded in 1992. The main objective of Chinese Professionals Association of Canada(CPAC) is to serve and be an advocate for immigrant professionals of Chinese descent. Over its decade-long development, CPAC has acquired a national membership of over 24,000 and is the largest group of its kind In Canada. As such, it plays an increasingly important role in the Canadian multicultural society, by participating in government consultations, various conferences, social and cultural events, charity activities and community services.
The fields of expertise of CPAC members cover a wide range of professions. Based on their academic backgrounds, members are divided into seven major divisions, which are: Arts, Business, Engineering, Finance and Investment, information Technology, Medicine and Pharmacy, and Science, with Engineering and IT Divisions being the largest. The composition of the CPAC membership has been changing gradually, from an exclusive group of professionals with post-graduate degrees from North American universities to a more diverse group with more and more new immigrants from China and other countries.
