Southern News Group, publishers of the Southern Chinese Daily News newspaper and the Chinese Yellow Pages for 30 years in southwest Houston, welcomed its newest addition to
its growing family of media enterprises when it launched ITV International Television, digital Channel 55.5 on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. The new station represents a working partnership between the new Houston digital tv station and Channel 44.6 in Los Angeles, California.
ITC Channel 55.5 will present shared international programming with Channel 44.6 on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis. The programming will include both Asian and other international language presentations such as news, movies, documentaries, sports and educational shows. Because the station is served by a digital signal, there is no charge for accessing the station, as is the case with cable television.
