The Panama Canal Museum offers high-tech permanent and temporary exhibits with more than 1,350 pieces displayed on three floors in Casco Antiguo. Our extensive historical content stimulates learning, generates experiences during moments of conviviality and contributes to the development of identity and sense of belonging of our visitors.
The tour through the halls tells the story of Panamanian history, taking you by the hand through 1,350 pieces from pre-Columbian times to the present day, including the Torrijos-Carter Treaty, the Flag of January 9, 1964 and those of the Sowing of the Flags of 1958. Your visit begins with the rise of the isthmus, framing Panama as the region's main transit route. The heritage tells the story of our importance as a transisthmian route, the studies, explorations and the arduous process of building the Canal. Finally, you learn about our generational struggles to reclaim our sovereignty and the implementation of our great Canal expansion project.
