New Canadian Community Centre (NCCC) was approved and registered as a non-profit organization in Ontario in September 2001. Over the past 20 years, aiming at helping newcomers with their rapid adaption to Canadian life, our organization has provided a service platform where new immigrants can access a great deal of information and immediate good consultation. Our organization has gained a good reputation and recognition among new Chinese immigrants (especially newcomers from Mainland China), as well as governments of all levels. Now it has grown into an agency funded by the Government of Canada that has 9 branches and more than 11,000 registered members. What’s more, our members can enjoy their get-togethers and activities every week at 14 different locations provided by the municipal governments. (See Appendix I, NCCC Activity Locations).
The daily activities organized by the Association, while promoting Chinese culture, focus on providing services to help new immigrants integrate into Canada’s multiculturalism, increase members’ awareness and participation in Canadian culture, so that new immigrants can integrate into the new environment, new society, happy and healthy life and development as soon as possible. In organizing activities, every effort is made to meet the social needs of migrants of different ages. For the Ministry of the Elderly, often held lectures on disease prevention and control, health knowledge, puzzle fitness fun activities, and English training, etc. , for the Middle-aged Ministry to hold housing, investment, home ownership and other lectures, for the Ministry of Youth to organize to adapt to the new life, learn the history of Canada, participate in social practice, green environmental protection and other activities.
