Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SAPA) was founded in 1993 and grew rapidly to become one of the most active and well-recognized professional organizations in the United States. SAPA is an independent, nonprofit organization with a membership base of over 3000 in more than 35 states in the United States, China Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. SAPA is currently headquartered in the Greater NY/NJ area and has three chapters, SAPA-GP (Greater Philadelphia area), SAPA-West (San Francisco area), and SAPA-NE (Boston area), with several other chapters in preparation. SAPA hosts its annual conference and special symposiums, holds variety of other scientific and social activities, and publishes its own SAPA newsletter quarterly. It also acts as a key co-organizer of the International Biotech and Pharma Symposia, an annual event in both Shanghai and Beijing. Through all SAPA leaders and other members` great efforts within almost a decade, SAPA has established an excellent record and built a great reputation in both the mainstream scientific and local communities in the US and China.
The Greater Philadelphia area is one of the major homes for the world pharmaceutical industry. It hosts six of the world`s top-ten largest pharmaceutical companies, as well as many mid/small pharma/biopharma companies and academic institutions. SAPA-GP is established to serve the rapidly growing pharma/biopharma professional community in this region to foster personal and professional career developments of members, to bridge the pharmaceutical exchanges and cooperation between the US and China, and to promote the pharmaceutical sciences and knowledge in every aspect.
