Hongping Airport (IATA: HPG, ICAO: ZLHP), located in Shennongjia City, Hubei Province, is a medium-sized civil airport, which was officially opened to traffic on November 1, 2006. It is the second international airport in Hubei Province and an important gateway to the Shennongjia National Nature Reserve.
Hongping Airport is located in Hongping Town, Shennongjia City, about 30 kilometers from downtown and 20 kilometers from Shennongjia National Nature Reserve, which is an important starting point for tourism in Shennongjia. The airport covers an area of about 1.2 square kilometers, with a runway length of 2.5 kilometers, and can accommodate both medium and large passenger planes for take-off and landing.
Hongping Airport currently has a runway that can accommodate both large and medium-sized passenger aircraft for takeoff and landing. 50 flights can be realized daily, and the airport can accommodate 25,000 passengers daily. The airport has facilities such as passenger hall, baggage claim area, security check area, terminal building and business lounge, which can meet the travel needs of passengers.
Hongping Airport has opened flights to many domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi`an, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, Nanjing, Guiyang and Urumqi, as well as international routes such as Hanoi in Vietnam, Vientiane in Laos, Siem Reap in Cambodia and Chiang Mai in Thailand.
