Zhangjiajie hehua International Airport located in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province is the second International airport in Hunan Province as well as the only International airport in Wulingshan area. It plays an important role in the development of the tourism industry in Hunan Province.
The airport was constructed and opened on August 18th, 1994. It was approved by the State Council in June 1997. It was opened to foreign flights officially on November 17th, 2011. It was renamed "Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport" officially on August 15th, 2017. Its three-character code is DYG.
There are more than four hundred employees, four departments and seven operation support departments at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. It covers an area of 247.49 hectares with 4D flight zone grade, a runway with a length of two thousand and six hundred meters, an apron with an area of one hundred and eighty-one thousand square meters and nineteen parking spaces (including six Langqiao parking spaces) for less than two hundred and fifty flights such as Airbus A300 and Boeing B767. The new terminal covers an area of 46529 square meters, which can meet the need of 5 million passengers, nineteen thousand tons of cargo and postal throughput and the operation of forty-five thousand flights.
Since the opening of the airport, it has been on a steady trend of aviation safety. It has passed a safety audit, security audit and aviation security audit organized by CAAC successively. It also has taken the lead in passing the continuous safety audit for small and medium-sized airports of civil aviation in Central and South China.
It has guaranteed the World Aerobic Flight Grand Prix of "Crossing Tianmen", Wingsuit Flying and the special flights of several heads of state successfully. It promotes quality improvement vigorously, implements the first question responsibility system and carries out service items such as "Flight Dynamic Telephone Tracking Service" and "Tourism Consulting Service". It is among the Chinese best similar airports in terms of some service indexes, such as the normal rate of flight release and the passenger satisfaction.
